Challenge

At the site in Borken, waste wood of categories A I to A IV was to be used in a combined heat and power process.

Solution

An air-cooled reciprocating grate with a thermal input of 34.65 MW supplies a steam generator for 38.8 t/h at 66 bar and 440 °C. The fuel is stored in the open and fed in shredded form. The flue gases are cleaned by dry sorption with lime and activated carbon.

Result

Since 2006, the plant has operated with an average boiler efficiency of 86%. The grate complies with the emission limits between 60 and 100% load.
