Process control for combustion and energy plants

The Kablitz process control system combines data acquisition, combustion output control and plant operation. Its design is matched to the plant concept and the interfaces of the trades involved.

From measured value to operator interface.

  1. Measure

Sensors record the process values from combustion and boiler and pass them to the programmable logic controller.

  2. Control

The PLC processes the measured values in the combustion output control and controls the automation stations belonging to the plant concept.

  3. Monitor and operate

The operator level shows process states, alarms and measured values in the SCADA system. Operating staff can monitor and control the plant through the intended operating functions.

Functional overview. Communication paths and safety functions are defined for the specific plant.

Connecting trades.
Supporting operation.

Combustion and boiler work together with other parts of the plant. A coordinated control system brings the information together at the operator level.

Coordinating interfaces

Controls of other trades, such as the turbine or the water-steam cycle, can be integrated into the overall concept via the engineered interfaces.

Alarms and process values

Visualisation supports monitoring of the plant status. Alarm and process value archives are available for operation within the intended SCADA concept.

Extending operation

Additional operator stations can be connected to the server stations with an appropriate network and system design.

Redundancy according to the plant concept.

A design with two server stations and software redundancy enables mutual monitoring. In the concept described, if one station fails the second takes over its tasks; after recovery, alarm and process value archives are synchronised.

Which components are designed redundantly is defined in the project. Server redundancy alone does not guarantee uninterrupted operation of the entire plant.

Planning remote maintenance deliberately.

An engineered remote maintenance access can support the service team in diagnosis and support. Access paths, permissions and approval by the operator are agreed for the specific plant.

What information helps with a process control inquiry?

Describe the existing or planned plant, the processes to be controlled and existing controllers. Known interfaces, visualisation and redundancy requirements and the desired scope of service support are useful. Remote access and access permissions are agreed for each project.
