FAQ on combustion systems, boilers and heat exchangers
Short answers about Kablitz, the fuels used, plant technology and how an inquiry works. Full information is available on each linked page.
The answers describe the general range of services. Suitability, design and technical values are always defined for the specific project.

What does Richard Kablitz GmbH do?
Kablitz designs and builds combustion systems, boilers, heat exchangers and CHP plants for biomass and residues – from individual components to complete plants. Its foundry and steel fabrication are part of its own site in Lauda-Königshofen, Germany.
Richard Kablitz founded the company in Riga in 1901. In 1951 the new company site was established in Lauda with its own metalworking shop and foundry; today the company is based in Lauda-Königshofen, Baden-Württemberg.
Which fuels can be used in Kablitz combustion systems?
Kablitz combustion systems are intended for biomass such as wood chips, bark, wood dust and wood fibres, for agricultural residues such as straw, rice husks or bagasse, and for processed waste fuels (RDF/SRF) and waste wood. Whether a fuel is suitable is assessed through fuel analysis and the plant concept.
What is the difference between air-cooled and water-cooled grates?
On an air-cooled grate, the combustion air flowing through slots in the grate bars also cools the grate surface. The water-cooled type 715 is based on the air-cooled reciprocating grate type 415. The right cooling depends on the properties of the fuel.
Which forms of energy can a Kablitz plant provide?
Depending on the boiler technology: process steam, electricity via steam, district heating, hot water, thermal oil or hot gas. Boilers and combustion systems are combined for the specific fuel and application.
A modular heat exchanger for gaseous media: cast-iron finned plates are bolted into pockets and joined into blocks. Each heat exchanger is designed for the specific plant.
It uses residual heat from flue gas. Borosilicate glass heating surfaces and protected steel parts are intended for heat recovery under corrosive conditions.
The process runs from fuel handling through combustion and boiler to flue gas treatment; a process control system connects data acquisition, combustion control and visualisation. Kablitz covers the phases of planning, delivery, installation, commissioning and warranty.
Flue gas treatment is matched to the fuel and emission requirements. Possible modules include a hot gas cyclone, multi-stage selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR), an evaporative cooler and dry sorption.
Does Kablitz provide service and spare parts for third-party plants?
Yes. Maintenance, inspection, overhauls, installation and conversions as well as the spare parts programme are also available to operators of plants from other manufacturers.
What information does Kablitz need for an inquiry?
Useful details are the fuel, available quantity, moisture content and required energy output. You can also send the inquiry with incomplete data: the technical fields are optional and open points are clarified in discussion.
