Replacing an air preheater: what to clarify first
A replacement air preheater is designed for the existing plant. Besides the operating data, the available space and the existing integration decide.

Record media and operating conditions
Useful data includes flue gas and air flow rates, inlet and outlet temperatures, operating pressure and allowable pressure losses. Where known, add the flue gas composition and dew point.
Describe the installation and the aim of the replacement
Which plant is in place, and what is to be replaced? Describe the available space and the aim of the replacement.
Dimensions, materials and interfaces are agreed during design. A similar reference does not mean a component can be swapped without planning.
Choose the design for the application
Kablitz builds cast-iron finned plate heat exchangers for gaseous media and glass tube heat exchangers for heat recovery under corrosive conditions. Which one fits depends on the actual media and operating conditions.
The material alone is not clearance for every flue gas or temperature.
Put a reference in context
The Aspropyrgos project describes a replacement air preheater with finned plates. It shows the principle. Results of a single project are not a general performance promise.
Technical inquiry for a heat exchanger
The heat exchanger questionnaire asks about flue gas, air, installation and contact. The technical fields are optional.
