Heilbronn Germany
A chemical company in Heilbronn generates its process steam with its own Kablitz biomass heating plant fired with waste wood and forest residues.
Thermal input
Steam output
Challenge
The company's own chemical production needed process steam from biomass – permitted under the 44th BImSchV and with a defined fuel made of waste wood of categories A I and A II.

Solution
The processed fuel is delivered by truck to a storage hall and transported to the firing system via a walking floor and chain trough conveyors; separators for oversized pieces and non-ferrous metals ensure a defined fuel. A 7.3 MW reciprocating grate firing supplies a combined water-tube/fire-tube boiler for 12 t/h of slightly superheated steam. An outdoor electrostatic precipitator removes dust from the flue gases.
Result
Since September 2023, the plant has supplied steam at 25 bar and 230 °C for production. The boiler efficiency is 90.5%.
