Dresden Germany
A CHP plant for waste wood of categories A I to A IV generates steam for power generation and district heating in combined heat and power.
Thermal input
Steam output
Challenge
At the Am Lugaer Graben site in Dresden, waste wood of all four categories was to be converted into electricity and district heating – under the requirements of the 17th BImSchV.

Solution
Kablitz supplied a firing system with an air-cooled reciprocating grate and a steam generator for 30 t/h at 66 bar and 425 °C. Ferrous and non-ferrous metals and oversized pieces are separated before combustion. Flue gas cleaning works by dry sorption with lime and activated carbon, and nitrogen oxides are reduced by SNCR.
Result
The plant went into operation in 2002. Dust, CO and NOx are measured continuously; as daily averages, CO is below 50 mg/m³ and NOx below 200 mg/m³ (based on 11% O₂).
